Deborah Dostert joined St. Stephen’s as a mathematics teacher in 1976, teaching algebra and pre-calculus.
In her extensive career with the school, she has taught the gamut of higher math courses and has also held a number of other positions, including head of mathematics, faculty representative to the EXCOM, trips director, trustee and college counselor. In her current role as Assistant Head for Academic Affairs, she continues to teach math while providing guidance and feedback to fellow teachers, handling students’ issues and organizing coursework and syllabuses, among other duties. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Ms. Dostert earned a BA from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She also has a Laurea in mathematics from the University of Rome, La Sapienza. Prior to teaching at St. Stephen’s, she enjoyed a singing career at Folkstudio, taught math at an American college in Rome and was a lecturer in Logic at the University of Rome, Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia.
