The Edward C. Carter Library

The Edward C. Carter Library is a vital center of academic life at St Stephen’s School. The library contains more than 14,000 titles among books, periodicals and multimedia as well a rich collection of databases and other online resources for the school community.

Fiction and non-fiction books may be checked out for 21 days and renewed. Multimedia, including DVD’s, may be taken out for a week. Reference titles may be taken overnight. Titles put on Reserve by faculty must be used in the library.

The library has a few Chromebooks which may be borrowed for the academic day only, from 8 am to the library closing hours as noted below. These are intended as a very short term emergency loan for students that have a laptop which is broken and undergoing repair. They do not circulate longer than the day and do not circulate with a charger. Please see the Laptop Policy for further explanation.

 

Library Hours:

  • Monday: 08:00 - 15:45  /  Tuesday: 08:00 - 17:45  /  Wednesday: 08:00 - 17:45  /  Thursday: 08:00 - 17:45  /  Friday: 08:00 - 17:00
  • Boarding students use the library as well in the evenings from 19:00 - 21:00 and on the weekends.
