For this edition, we decided to take a look back at the changing tides in the West-the much-watched 2016 election in the US and the Brexit referendum vote in the UK.

Former IB History teacher and St. Stephen’s Contributor Jen Hollis leads our Feature Section with The Three Riddles of Trump: A Post-mortem, where she aptly dissects the US election and takes a look at how many of us misread a growing call by some for something different. Our current students—Pihla Pekkarinen ‘17, Lauren Johnson ’17 and Hailey Breitenstein ’19—offer their own views on an event they watched unfold from afar, much to their amazement and, at times, bewilderment. Vanity Fair Editor at Large Cullen Murphy shares his views in an interview on the subject, while Assistant Head for Teaching and Learning Alex Wreth gives us a view from across the pond with an analysis of the UK vote to leave the European Union.

Also in this issue, we try to take a stab at that age-old question of "what teens want." Student writers Laura Ferri '17 and Celia Courtright '18 skillfully represent the gamut of emotions and views from a teen perspective, while Head of School Eric Mayer, School Counselor Phil Georgiou and Director of the Learning Center Fiona Stewart provide the parental rationale on this topic.
